When the weather gets too cold for paddle boarding and river floats, Molly and I get restless. Apparently, Facebook can read our minds because Molly got an add for an AMAZING spot in town called the DIY Bar. For around $40 bucks, they supply all the materials and instructions for some seriously cool projects. Plus, they have great drinks!

Welcoming and warm on a crisp fall day

We decided to custom leather passport holders for each other. That way we can be all stylish next time we travel internationally! Three hours later, we had some awesome memories and a matching souvenir.

Instructions for an amazing DIY evening...

Ingredients: 1 Menu, 1 Bucket-O-Tools, 1 Piece of Leather, 1 Stencil, and 1 Wall full of Paints and Supplies.
First, clip the stencil onto the leather and draw on it!
Eventually the leather is all dotty and scraped. The ruler is for science.
Scissors come out it gets real! #scary
Next thing you know, the clips are back, and it's time to start punching holes. This makes it wayyyy easier to sew the leather. If only I had known about this when I tried repairing my shoes with a needle and thread in college!
Metal leather punches are one of the most satisfying tools ever. Wet the leather with a sponge, and pound it with a rubber mallet while it rests on a heavy rubber pad!
Time for some color :)
It takes a while to get the leather to soak up all the color we wanted, but the results were incredible.
I'm bad at sewing! DIY Bar was super smart and the needles weren't very sharp. Otherwise, I would have come home with many holes in my fingers...
The finished product: Wevebeeneverywhere Passport Holders, and a pair of happy humans.
Close up :)

Sometimes it's fun to find adventures close to home! Plus, I love seeing the smile on Molly's face when we build things together. Personally, I can't wait to get on a plane and use our new holders. Let us know in the comments where we should go :)
